For over a quarter of a century we have been teaching people to SING or play an instrument in the Chorley area:- PIANO lessons, GUITAR lessons, VIOLIN, KEYBOARD, FLUTE and RECORDER as well as the study of MUSIC THEORY. Our students range from 6 to 80 years of age and we take all levels of ability from absolute beginners up to students preparing for auditions, performances or music examinations.
But not everyone wants to study for exams. Some people have music lessons simply for the pleasure and satisfaction of mastering a musical discipline which can also improve their general learning skills, boost their self-confidence and even transform their personality. Such is the power of music!

Services
The heart of any successful school is its teachers, and at Heylings Music we choose ours with the greatest care. We only accept experienced teachers with C.R.B. clearance, who are qualified to music degree or diploma level. Before joining us some of our teachers were noted performers in their own right, and this experience proves invaluable when preparing students to cope with the pressures of performing in public.
Examinations are usually held at Heylings Music in Spring and late Autumn, where they are organised and supervised by the administration office. Many visiting examiners have often complimented us on the high standard of our organisation and the efficient way the examinations are conducted.
To give our candidates a wide choice of exam subjects and styles, we offer examinations with the A.B.R.S.M. and the London College of Music, two of the foremost examining boards in the country. Most of our candidates take their exams with these two boards but, if they wish, candidates may be entered for their exams with other examining bodies.

Because all business is conducted through the office we are able to streamline our services, saving our students and teachers time and money. For example, students needn't waste valuable lesson time in lengthy discussions with teachers, when their problems can be solved by a quick trip to the office.
Small children quickly outgrow violins or guitars. By exchanging rented instruments to match their child's growth, parents save money by not having to buy progressively larger instruments. Renting basic keyboards gives students the chance to try out the subject before committing themselves to the expense of buying their own instruments.
We are in the Victorian house, behind the tall privet hedge at the northern end of Park Road, Chorley. Two weeks during the Summer. Two weeks over Xmas & New Year. Bank Holidays & Easter Weekend. Posters giving dates and details are on display four weeks before each holiday. Free on-site parking is available to our students on either side of our premises; while Park Road itself has a convenient parking lane.

I went to Heylings Music for nearly three years and progressed through the different grades of music both in theory and practical, after which I began composing my own pieces of music. However this all changed, in October 2018, when my teacher left due to health complications and I was assigned to a new teacher whom, in order to strike up a relationship, on my first lesson I provided him with a piece of composition work that I had created thinking that I would get it back. Two months went by of me asking for the piece of work back and the teacher always said that he had forgotten to bring it, but
