Barrington Pottery
Here at Barrington Pottery we love to make Traditional Hand Thrown Pottery, the type of pottery that your granny would have used, but our pots are designed for use in modern living, whether it be baking, cooking, eating or just having a cup of tea with friends, doing any of these things is enhanced if you're using our hand made pottery.

Our pottery not only functions well, it has soul. From the occasional finger or thumb print in the side of the pot or the dribble of slip down the side of a pancheon, these are the living breathing characteristics of each pot's own story. With our workshop situated in the grounds of Barrington Court in Somerset, we specialise in simple, elegant and practical slipware pottery.

We called in to the pottery whilst visiting Barrington Court. The products are beautiful. We bought a bowl whilst there and ordered some ramekins which weren’t in stock. They were made and delivered within two weeks. The pottery is beautiful. For me it is the perfect weight and thickness and the glazing is gorgeous. It strikes a lovely balance between rustic and sophisticated. I am absolutely delighted with my purchases. Thank you both.

We visited the pottery when staying in a cottage nearby some two years ago and bought a couple of soup bowls. I'd always regretted not buying a set of four, so was delighted to find recently that they do mail order.
Very efficient and responsive to the order, which arrived safely and promptly within three days. Now scanning the website for some gift ideas

Before the lockdown my self and my sister in law attended a pottery morning. We found the whole experience a lot of fun . We had great tuition and to top it all came away with three pots that we had made. These had gone through the kiln and been glazed . I have just picked these up and they are amazing. Thank you so much for a great experience . Highly recommended .

This is a review from Anne Brain, who attended our Full Day Pottery Lesson on Friday 7th August 2020.
I absolutely loved my day thank you. Beautifully run with attention to every detail with great teaching and so encouraging all the way. I felt safe and all Covid safety issues looked after with great thought. Thank Paul and Marion for reawakening my inner potter! I look forward to coming back to pick up my efforts once you have put the magic finishing touches to them! Good luck for the rest of the season xx

Attended the Full Day Pottery Experience on Friday 21st August
Had an absolutely fantastic day with my partner. Paul and Marion are great teachers - and tailor their input to the skill level of the individual. I was a slow starter and had trouble with my initial throwing technique - but with Marion's patient tutelage was able to produce some passable bowls, mugs, and jugs! Lunch was delicious and we were plied with cups of tea, coffee, cakes, and biscuits all day long.
Being able to bring back 5 items I've made myself is an amazing feeling. Can't recommend this experience enough - and that's

I bought a large serving dish as a wedding gift for a couple who already had most of the household things they needed. I would have been very happy to keep it for myself. The couple were delighted - it is simple, beautiful, useful and unique. It is used regularly and is a simple reminder of what really makes life happy. The words around the rim of the bowl say ‘Speak Kindly. Live Simply. Love Generously. Care Deeply.’

As the owner of over 60 pieces from this pottery, I think I could be said to be a fan. Paul and Marion have supplied everything from my collection of pancheon ,jugs, bowls , storage jars etc, all made to order and my requirements and nothing too much trouble. They are amazing potters and artists.

Yesterday I spent the day with Paul and Marion, and what a memorable day it was. There enthusiasm and masterful tuition brought to life the thrill and joy of 'the throw down' and with a few examples of our endeavours awaiting firing and collection I cannot rate this day highly enough. Thank you - It was inspirational.
