Based on the Kodaly, Orff & Dalcroze methods, the aim of PLAY is to nurture well-rounded human beings: our teachers focus on the holistic development of each individual student. The methods used are helping our students to become musically literate and to develop reading, listening and creative skills, rare endeavours in today's music education.
We instil practicing habits gradually and constructively, while continuously nurturing pupils' innate impulse to express themselves. Find out more about what we can offer, and contact us for any further information you might require!

When we moved to Teddington, we fall in love with the strong neighbourhood feeling. Teddington has everything a family would need: restaurants, food/ clothing/ charity stores, library, pharmacies, cafes, and good schools. What seemed to be missing was a music school! Being passionate about music education and having a strong feeling of community, we started teaching privately and in schools around the area.
Instrumental training begins when the child is ready (usually between 5 and 7 years of age), and has expressed a strong desire to play an instrument. Children should normally have completed two years of kindergarten training, in the upper end classes, depending on age at entry. It is essential, particularly in the early years that instrumental teaching is of the highest quality.
At P.L.A.Y. we believe it essential in order to progress, develop and continue being motivated, one needs a strong sense of community. Within a community children can thrive and explore together the joys music has to offer. Within a group children can share their experiences and develop through them.
Music Kindergarten classes are taught in age specific groups, and are suitable for toddlers (1-2 y.o.) and preschoolers (3+ y.o.). There are special introductory baby groups for babies (6-12 m.o.). Babies and toddlers are accompanied by an adult. The classes will introduce the basic music concepts such as high/low, loud/soft, fast/slow, etc, always within the framework of developmentally appropriate songs, games and activities.

I benefited a lot from the online course offered free of charge by Greg Emfhietzis of Play and would like to continue with paid lessons. I would thoroughly recommend the classes to anyone who is interested as they are delivered clearly, in an inspiring and friendly teaching style with ample opportunity to ask questions. Learning was fun in a subject that might feel intimidating at times. The quality of teaching and the depth of content were as good as those of a well established school I attended last year.
