Services
MMA have prepared reports for over 30 solicitors. Many reports have related to Mental Health Tribunals and Welfare Guardianship issues, with some of these cases involving repeat instruction over a number of years.
Other reports have involved: contested adoption proceedings; planning enquiry; withdrawal of Care Inspectorate registration; judicial review of Probation Service action; personal injury by clients to social care workers; personal injury to clients; contesting social work department decisions in relation to child and adult care service provision; review of social work provision for disabled children.

Mike is an experienced trainer and training manager. In the past he has been convenor of a Scottish based voluntary sector disability consortium. Mike has taught with the OU for over 10 years, and has taught at a range of levels from Foundation to Management, and for whom he has acted as a specialist reader and exam setter on Social Work and the Law in Scotland.
Since completing his MSc in Public and Social Policy at Edinburgh University Mike has regularly included research activities in his portfolio. His dissertation examined differences in views on the significance of quality indicators between service users and providers, and achieving a concensus on rank ordering.
Consultancy has been a main stay of Mike's activity since establishing his business in 2003. Mike is happy to work alone in this area or to put together teams, or join other teams for larger scale projects. Mike has been a Reviewer with NHS Quality Improvement Scotland for more than a decade, specialising in the review of learning disabiity services, but also contributing to reviews of mental health and older peoples' services.
