Classic Campervans Scotland has a fleet of classic VW T2 campervans which are available for self drive hire. Located in the pretty little seaside town of North Berwick just 30 minutes by train to Edinburgh we are well located as an ideal starting point to tour The Highlands and Islands, The Scottish Borders, Lake District or Northumberland.

Services
We are a hire business operating classic VW Campervans based in East Lothian near Edinburgh, just a few minutes from the A1 North/South road link and main East Coast Rail Line and thus ideally located as your starting point to tour The Highlands and Islands, The Scottish Borders, Lake District or Northumberland.
If you arrive by car we have off road parking with security measures (however it is used at your own risk) We can organise pick up from the North Berwick local train station at no charge or from Dunbar station on the main East Coast Line if you are travelling by train from the south. Our vans are perfectly set up for your adventure.
Boris is our first liquid cooled Brazilian Type 2. Unlike Tilly and Dotty he has the more powerful and refined liquid cooled engine. It makes him a more relaxed cruiser and perhaps a little easier to drive. Boris was born in 2012 in the Sao Bernard do Campo Rio de Janeiro plant before coming over to the UK.
Dotty is our second Brazilian Type 2. Like Tilly she has the classic flat four engine (complete with 'proper' classic VW soundtrack!) but benefits from fuel injection which makes these Brazilians more economical than the original German versions. Dotty was also born in 2005 in the Sao Bernard do Campo plant before coming over to Danbury for conversion to a campervan with the top of the range 'Rio' spec.
Horace was born in 2012 in the Sao Bernard do Campo Rio de Janeiro plant before coming over to the UK. Like Monty and Pippa he has both the full width bed and pop top roof with upstairs accommodation for children of all ages - so long as 80 kgs is not exceeded.
Horace is a fabulous peppermint and white in colour (it's actually a Porsche colour from an era when there must have been some 'interesting' people in the Porsche colours department ) with matching curtains and very classy grey upholstery and interior.Horace was built fresh for the 2019 season.

Great solo adventure with Boris along the NC500 !!!
The pleasure of driving those landscapes with the iconic VW is unmeasurable!!
I have the best memories and I can’t wait to do this again!

We picked Monty up from North Berwick
With a service free of hysteric
With Ian’s instructions
There’d be no destructions
And off we set towards Melvich
Monty was perfectly stocked
To cook dinner at the edge of a Loch
We set up the bed
Dreamt of travels ahead
And awoke to Baaaa,s of a flock
In Scotland the weather’s uncertain
But rain didn’t spoil our excursion
For with Monty’s strong roof
Keeping us weatherproof
And the sun

I’ve just returned from a glorious trip to Tiree with the fabulous “Pippa”. My co driver was Alice , daughter in law. We had a lot of fun. It was our first time driving a traditional VW campervan and it was quite an experience. Ian gave us lots of helpful advice and once we had shown we could cope we were off. The sense of freedom was wonderful and driving up the West Coast to Oban was a joy, but we were much more confident on the return journey! I highly recommend Classsic Campervans Scotland. Excellent service and the thoughtful preparation makes the hiring a good experience

Absolutely fantastic! We had a great time driving Horace around the West Coast, Isle of Skye and Mull. He had everything we needed and was very comfortable for two people. Ian was incredibly helpful before we arrived - answering little questions about hook ups etc - and also during the check in. We really appreciated the time and care he took to get us confident driving Horace before letting us go! For anyone doubting if it's possible for them to drive a T2 - it's really fun and you get used to it very quickly! Highly highly recommend Ian and his vans.

My son and I had a wonderful trip to Skye, thanks to 'Amy'. Amy is from Brazil so is left-hand drive. The van was in good working order and the fridge worked really well. She was easy to park and welcomed in all the campsites we stayed in. We thoroughly recommend getting in touch with Ian at Classic Campervans if you want a fun holiday in Scotland.

Me and my partner just spend 7 days in Amy doing the NC500, an amazing week. She has everything you could need so no need to worry about taking a camping stove. Plenty storage for food ect. Ian was very friendly and made sure we knew everything before heading off. Amazing service from start to finish. Highly recommended. 5⭐️

We LOVED our road trip in Horace. We took him to see some family and friends in Perthshire before heading over to Mull and back via Argyll. Ian was great and made sure we knew how to drive him, and was very accommodating with times etc. We got a lot of attention as we travelled around and he was the star of the show being photographed in Glen Etive! Thoroughly recommend Classic Campervans Scotland, great value and the van was in excellent condition.

Had an awesome 6 day trip in one of the small Puffin Campers. Toured the Outer Hebrides and Skye. Saw some incredible sights and the camper coped perfectly (on some tricky and remote roads at times!). Van had everything you need to be self sufficient, very well laid out and efficient use of space. Ian was great, very responsive in advance and very passionate about his work when chatting with him. We also hired one of the classic VWs a couple of years ago, had an amazing time and came back for more! Highly recommend.

We have just spent a most wonderful ten days driving the North Coast 500 in Pippa. Thanks to Ian’s helpful tips and thorough induction talking us through how everything worked, we had the best time! The van was well equipped with a two-burner gas hob and grill and a removable pedestal table. Ian was also willing to lend us camp chairs and a table, but we had our own.
I totally recommend renting one of these classic campers rather than a regular motor home! Way more fun, and amazing memories!!

Fabulous experience from start to finish, enabled primarily by Ian's outstanding customer service. Nothing was too much trouble, very quick responses.
Everything inside and outside these beautiful vehicles was immaculate.
He accommodated my requirement for a longer hire by splitting my rental time between Classic Pippa (Classic Campervans) and Yellow Pearl (Puffin Campervans). Very different to drive but both so much fun & cosy sanctuary each evening.
They drew many envious stares and comments from the ubiquitous white motorhomes.

We were lucky enough to have 3 of Ian's amazing campers at our wedding! Ian was more than accomodating to my wifes every wish and we both couldn't be happier with our choice!
My ushers and I were brought to the venue by Bruce (driver) in Monty and I was very impressed with his professionalism especially when my nerves we getting to me before we left! He also transported my wife and I to get our pictures done and was very patient with us.
My wife and her father was chauffeured to the venue by Ian himself who kindly decorated Boris for her grand arrival, making it even more special. We also persuaded
