I am a qualified teacher of Modern Languages and former Head of Department with 16 years' experience in secondary schools, further education and sixth form colleges. I hold a B.A. (Hons) in European Studies (French and Spanish) and the Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Bath.

France is the most popular tourist destination in the world, with over 60 million visitors per year. The British make up a large proportion of these visitors, but many French people do not speak English, especially in the more rural areas, making a knowledge of the language important, and for those with properties in France, it is essential to be able to converse with officials, tradesmen and neighbours.
It is widely recognised in the business community that a knowledge of foreign languages is crucial to the international competitiveness of business. At individual business level, however, there is often a skills gap in this area, putting employers and employees without foreign language competence at a disadvantage.
I had weekly sessions with Pam over a period of 4 years to support my French studies with the Open University. She is an excellent and very experienced teacher. OU courses principally consist of distance learning, which presents obvious difficulties with language qualifications. Without Pam's patient and knowledgeable tuition, ever responsive to my needs, I would certainly not have achieved the results I obtained.
