I was also a student who started in the late 70s. My experience was very different from Sarah Mahaney (I don't think we knew each other). SSFS helped me develop confidence and a strong sense of myself as a learner. There were drugs and alcohol everywhere back then. All schools have had to adapt at responding to chemical use in our society. As an educator, I think SSFS is doing this in a responsible, respectful, and comprehensive way. My daughter is now a student in the upper school and I am so grateful for the care, support, and challenge she is receiving. No school is the right match for everyone

We lived in one of the best school districts in Montgomery County, but found that the school knew how to test our children, but not educate them. We sent one of our four children to SSFS and, within a short time, enrolled the other three. The teachers are dedicated, the administration is innovative, and the community is inclusive, caring, and supportive. In fact, we actually moved just to be near the school and more a part of the SSFS community. SSFS awakened the light within our four children. For that, we are continually grateful.

We've been a part of this wonderful, loving community for over 13 years. Our children have thrived here. The faculty are skilled and dedicated educators who pour a great deal of time, effort, care, and thought into their work with their students and communication with parents. I really enjoyed the camp - summer in sandy spring so much. Actually I do not know much about ssfs but I am sure that the this school & camp was AMAZING. The environment was perfect for the kids to play & study. Thank u for the all counselors who worked at the camp and thank u so much for the American kids who played with us. I am so sad that it was my last visit to America in childhood but thank you so much ssfs for gave me fantastic experienceđ
