I have installed tens of thousand's of Solar PV panels across the UK, from village halls to King's Cross Railway station and from Cumbrian cottages to the 2012 Olympic Park. The inverter (figure 2) is a device that converts the DC electricity produced by your solar array into AC that can be used in your home or business. The inverter also performs safety checks. It monitors the grid and will switch itself off if it senses a fault or bigger than normal fluctuation in the mains supply.
A south facing, south-east or south-west facing roof with a pitch of between 30° - 45° is most suitable for solar, but East and West systems can also work, with research suggesting only a 14% drop in generation over the year. System can be fitted on roofs between 15° - 50°, anything outside of this and the panels will begin to lose performance.
