We are a small rural business based in the hamlet of Churchtown, Sebergham, at the northern border of the Lake District National Park in Cumbria. Our transport connections mean we are ideally placed to provide a bespoke service throughout the area and further afield across the UK. Having worked with wood from the age of eleven, Keith Gibson has long been a creative thinker and a skilled carpenter.
His varied interests have led him to produce a wide range of graphics and carved designs, travel widely throughout the Middle East and Africa, present a radio show, lead alpine white water kayaking trips and read honours and postgraduate science degrees, where he studied the properties of wood in microscopic detail.

We specialise in the design, crafting and construction of competitively priced traditional and contemporary green oak timber framed buildings. We use proven techniques that have been developed over many centuries by generations of craftsmen to create beautiful structures which will stand the test of time.
Green oak framed construction is a well tested and extremely adaptable building technology. It is a method of construction which has been widely used in the UK and throughout Europe for many centuries. A green oak frame will typically form the major structural component of a building, roof or extension.
The main purpose of any design is to create a sound structure and there is a wide variety of frame styles that can be applied to almost any given site or budget. These range from simple post and beam lean-to extensions to complex multi-plane arch and sling braced trussed frames, allowing considerable scope for creativity and visual impact - in other words, the WOW! factor.
Having visited the site on at least one occasion, points of access for timber, plant and equipment will already have been established. The timbers are unloaded and stacked as close as practicable to the build area. The first parts of the frame are installed relative to established setting out points, ready for the next layer of timbers.
There are many types green oak frames. A very versatile material, it allows a great deal of creativity in design, which may vary according to both aesthetic preference and structural requirements. We take pride in the quality of our green oak frames, from the smallest porch to the largest extension or outbuilding.

Sessile oak designed and crafted our green oak veranda. The craftsmanship is awesome, something that is hard to find these days. His design for a difficult location was excellent, and he took the time to visit the site twice to ensure it was what we wanted, and that it would fit the space. I rarely review anything, but the quality of this work is a worthwhile exception. I would highly recommend and definitely use again.
