Regardless of age or physical health, and even if you are not experiencing any eye problems, you should still get your eyes tested regularly. Not only will it show if you need to get glasses for the first time, or change your current glasses, but it is a vital health check for your eyes. It can also pick up early signs of conditions that can affect the eyes, before you are aware of any symptoms.
Looking after your eyes is important because, after all, almost everything we do in everyday life requires us to use our sight. So, looking after them is vitally important. D McGovern Opticians will do this for you, with a range of eye services, from eye tests to eye care products to look after your vision, for your future.

Services
We are delighted to announce that after significant investment we can now offer Ocular Coherence Topmography (OCT) scanning. This is the most advanced and up to date technology available for assessing eye health and managing eye conditions including macula degeneration and glaucoma. It lets the optometrist see under the retina and in between the layers of the retina to parts of the eye that cannot be seen by ordinary examination.
MiYOSMART is a new non invasive myopia management lens which is both safe and convenient for the patient - just like ordinary spectacle lenses. The lenses provide vision correction so the wearer will experience comfortable vision in daily wear. All this whilst working to reduce the progression of their short-sightedness.
You may have Blepharitis an irritating eye condition which makes your eyelids itchy, red and sore, your eyelashes can become crusty or greasy and you can experience a burning, gritty sensation in your eyes. The use of our new BlephEx technology at Strabane allows us to thoroughly and precisely eliminate the scuff and bacterial debris which are the main causes of inflammatory lid disease.
Dry eye is a chronic problem and needs long term management. We have created a plan where for a fee of 17 a month (by Direct Debit) patients are seen regularly (every 4-6 months) and have their dry eye disease monitored and treatment optimised. BlephEx treatment will be included in plan (usual cost 45) and performed at least yearly.

As a long standing glasses wearer i can not praise McGovern Opticians highly enough. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming right from the testing process to the choosing of frames... which i always find difficult to make a choice there is just too many lovely frames to choose from ! The ladies always give good reccommendations for me with what suits me best. I am an occasional contact lense wearer and find the testing process here great too. The choice of lense's available are fantastic. I can not recommend McGovern Opticians highly enough.
