Open Doors International Language School
If you find English language difficult and have lots of questions, then you are in the right place to find answers. It might be easier to talk to someone in person or on the phone. Don't be shy, we would love to meet you! Free English language education, skills development mentorships, employment and community integration support for ethnic minority groups.

We are here to help you. No matter where you come from, how well you speak English or what your beliefs are, you have a home at Odils Learning Foundation. We teach English Language classes to people who are refugees, seeking asylum or part of ethnic minority groups here in the UK. Our centre is located in Plymouth, Devon.
Services
I am Cassie Roberts, the Chief Executive and one of the co-founders of Odils Learning Foundation. My husband, Russell, and I started the charity in 2001 because we believe that language plays an important part in helping new communities to integrate and contribute to the wider community. Russell had traveled a lot during his life and understood the need for a place that could be considered 'family' until he got connected into the community.
Our staff at Odils have come from all over the world! Some are from the UK, but others have come from a variety of other countries. Some arrived in the UK as refugees. They all have different experiences and backgrounds which makes Odils a friendly, multi-cultural environment. Our teachers are helped in the classroom by our amazing volunteers, who give up their time to help students with their studies.
You can talk to our employment mentors about the job you want and get advice on how to get it. You can practice skills that will make you more employable like typing and using a computer, writing your own CV and applying for jobs on your own! Our advisors are here to help, but our aim is for you to develop the skills you need to become independent in your UK life!
We have a wonderful Board of Trustees here at Odils. They work closely with us to support our vision of empowering people to achieve their aims. We do this through teaching English and other vocational courses. Our Trustees volunteer a lot of their time to help us develop strategies to continue to grow as a charity.
We offer English for specific purposes. This is sometimes called ESP. The types of courses we offer are English for business, English for the medical industry, and IELTS preparation. If you are an international student in the UK for a short time, you are welcome to join our classes. Get in touch and we will make arrangements with you directly.
