Acupuncture forms part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, an ancient system of healing that taps into the bodies energy (Qi). It has been practised in China and the Far East for over 2500 years and has become increasingly popular in the west since President Nixon's visit to China in 1967. It taps into the bodies Qi to correct and harmonise its flow, relieving pain and restoring health and wellbeing.

Through ongoing research, the British Acupucture Council has shown that treatment can benefit pain and discomfort associated with arthritis, symptoms of menopause, headaches, anxiety and stress conditions. Although acupuncture is often thought of as a treatment for pain it has many other benefits ranging from relaxing and energising the body to promoting improvement in general well-being.
Services
I offer treatment specific to your needs. Making use of my previous experience and knowledge of working in the NHS, we can tailor treatments drawing on the most up to date methods and research. Whether you are trying to get pregnant, going through assisted conception or struggling with disorders of pregnancy, acupuncture can help manage the stress and anxiety.
Tui Na (pronounced Twee nar) is a therapy that can be used as a stand alone treatment or incorporated into your acupuncture treatment. A Traditional Chinese massage that is done though loose clothing to help remove stagnation in the body and move blood and energy through the muscles and meridians. Unlike a massage where pressure is applied to the skin, tissues and muscle the application of the cups pulls the soft tissue and muscle upwards.
Acupuncture treatment needles are much finer than those used for injections or blood tests in fact, they are not much thicker than a human hair. Rather than pain, you should experience a tingling effect or at most a dull ache momentarily when the needle has been inserted. It is common to experience a profound sense of relaxation during your treatment!
