Dr Khan has 16 years experience working with adults with mental health difficulties. She obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nottingham. She currently works part-time as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS in Critical Care, at the University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM).
She is also a Director of Utopia Psychological Services. Following this, Dr Khan sought to diversify her clinical experience and gained her second Assistant Psychologist role working with adults with learning difficulties. The depth and wealth of clinical knowledge, skills and experience gained, led to her successful admission on a highly competitive three year post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Services
Here is a summary of information about the services we provide at Utopia Psychological Services. However, we understand that it is sometimes more helpful to talk with someone to find out what type of help you may benefit from. Most people are not sure whether they even need to see a psychologist. We accept self-referrals as well as referrals from General Practitioners and other health, insurance and legal professionals.
In your first session with me I will hope to go over as much information as possible with you about the past, present and your hopes for the future. Once we have gathered the above information we can develop a care plan or a treatment plan. This will be based on my recommendation of what psychological therapy I think would be helpful for you.
We provide Expert Witness services for Civil and Family cases. Dr Khan has also acted as an expert in the context of immigration and asylum cases - particularly when documenting the psychological effect of torture and other human rights violations. She is currently in the process of completing the Cardiff University Law School Bond Solon Expert Witness certificate.
The primary purpose of supervision is to ensure the safety and quality of care and treatment for service users. Supervision also supports professional development, developing and embedding new skills and ensuring adherence to good practice both in clinical and professional areas. I offer supervision to qualified therapists, counsellors or Clinical Psychologists and to students in training.
At Utopia Psychological Services Dr Khan offers a full range of training services to meet the specific needs of your organisation. If you have any questions about the training we offer, feel free to get in touch and find out more.
The Trainees' feedback indicates that this was a powerful and thought provoking session, which will stay with them and positively influence their clinical practice when working with refugees, asylum seekers and traumatised individuals and groups. The feedback was resoundingly positive and clearly enabled the Trainees to reflect on the issues faced by people experiencing these challenges.
