The Water Margins is a specialist Aquatic Plant Nursery situated in the heart of the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside, in South West Wales. We are a small family run business established through a shared interest and passion for all things aquatic! Combined we have qualifications and experience in several fields of aquaculture and horticulture and have a wealth of knowledge to advise people on their ponds, lakes and water features.
Several years ago we decided to combine our knowledge and set up a specialist nursery. We now grow our own extensive range of aquatic plants/water plants, bog plants, moisture loving plants for all situations at very competitive prices. We also sell plants for drier situations such as grasses and bamboos.

Services
At this time of the year, the water lilies have started to flower. In a small pond, you can remove the older leaves, when they are past their prime and starting to die back. Don't forget to look out for any snails, feeding on the leaves, that you may wish to keep. Now is the time that you may have an infestation of aphids on the leaves and flowers.
Native to Britain also throughout Europe, North and Central Asia and North America. Once established it produces almost a ball of bright yellow flowers very early in the spring. After flowering in March and April foliage will die back but it may have a second flowering late in the year. Other types are Caltha palustris 'Alba' from the Himalayas which is smaller than Caltha palustris with white flowers.
These plants will add extra interest to any pond. They do not need planting as they float on the surface of the water and reproduce freely by runners. They can also provide excellent cover for fish and other aquatic wildlife. Floating plants reduce the amount of sunlight falling into the water and absorb nutrients thus reducing the amount of algae that is able to be produced in the water.
We stock an extensive range of water lilies. With their floating foliage and blossoms of great beauty they are the crowning glory of any pond. We have a wide array of colours and range of sizes suitable for small to large ponds and shallow to deep water. Water lilies provide useful cover against predatory birds and reduce sunlight hence reducing algal growth.

Excellent store with a massive variety of pond plants many of which are native. I was looking for some native species for a new wildlife pond I had dug in my garden and I was not disappointed. I left with a good selection of plants all at an affordable price. Ken and his wife were very knowledgeable and able to direct me to exactly which plants would be suitable for my pond. Highly recommended. Handfuls of native oxygenators were £1, small pots £5 and larger plants £7.50.

Recently visited aquatic gardens... Received an excellent warm welcome from the owners.. apologies for forgetting your names ((atrocious memory)).. even though they were closing shop early for the day; partly due to the awful weather and a personal engagement, my husband and I were given a personal tour.... They engaged us with enthusiasm, knowledge and experience... They listened to our questions and were helpful to our needs... There was no feeling of any pressure sales!!! It was like talking to friends we had known for years... When we are ready to stock our newly made water feature, we will

What a find The Water Margins Aquatic Plant Nursery is! Ken is very generous with both his time and knowledge and we spent an educational and enjoyable couple of hours learning (and spending money!) for our pond project. I highly recommend a visit, and know we will be back for more help and encouragement soon. Dinah and John, Llandovery

A real gem of a find. The website says that you will receive a warm welcome & that is exactly what you get. Ken is very knowledgable about all the plants we enquired about (& bought) & you can see the time & care taken to pot up the lilies amongst others. We have been there twice & will definitely be going back to get more.
