Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (TCA) works by regulating the flow of energy (Qi) through the body. This stimulates the body's own healing response so restoring its natural balance. Unlike western acupuncture, TCA works by relieving the symptoms but also treating the underlying cause. In turn this promotes ongoing physical health and emotional wellbeing.

The holistic nature of TCA means that whatever symptoms are being treated, there is a beneficial impact on body, mind and spirit. Patients are often delighted by unexpected changes, apart from the relief of the immediate symptoms. As a patient you will find that the whole approach of TCA is to treat you as an individual.
Services
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (TCA) has been used to restore, promote and maintain good health for over 2,500 years. According to the tradition our health is dependent on the body's motivating energy (Qi) moving in a smooth and balanced way through channels under the skin. The flow of Qi can be disturbed by many factors; physical, mental and emotional.
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture is a holistic approach to getting people well. I work with you to diagnose what the underlying cause of your condition is and then I can tailor a treatment plan, which may include lifestyle and dietary advice to help maximize the treatment outcome for you. This approach treats the symptoms you want help with and often other beneficial changes occur alongside, as you body's natural balance is restored.
During your first visit we take the opportunity to discuss your symptoms, your medical history and your health and lifestyle. This is to ensure your treatment plan is a perfect match for your specific circumstances. A treatment plan will then be designed specifically to address the diagnosed imbalances in your body and acupuncture points will be chosen and used in your first treatment.
Many medical insurance companies now cover a portion of accupuncture treatment costs. Please check with your insurance company for levels of cover or whether a GP referral is required. We expect patients to pay us for each treatment and then reclaim the fees from their insurance company. Please ensure that you inform me if you will be claiming through medical insurance as some companies specify which BAcC Members are covered.
Many people come to Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (TCA) for help with specific symptoms or conditions and some because they feel generally unwell. Others chose acupuncture to enhance their feeling of wellbeing. Acupuncture is considered suitable for people of all ages. It can also be used alongside conventional western medicine.
