Whether from an injury, surgery, stretch marks or a skin concern such as acne, scars are something almost everyone has to deal with at some point in their life. They are an amazing example of the miraculous way skin heals itself when injured.
Scarring and stretch marks may be flat or raised, practically invisible or obvious, but what you do to assist the skin as it heals-and how you treat the scarred area afterwards-makes a big difference in how the scar looks in the long term. Before you learn how to treat scars, you need to understand how they form, how to care for injured skin to minimise scarring, and what type of scar you're dealing with.

Acne Congested skin can produce far too much oil and have a rapid growth of skin cells which result in enlarged visible pores. These pores subsequently become clogged with this excess natural oil (called sebum) and dead skin cells. This provides a perfect breeding ground for feeding acne bacteria, leading to redness, inflammation, blackheads and painful whiteheads.
Acne scarring is created through a traumatic disturbance in the deep layers of skin. When the skin is damaged in any way, such as recurrent pimples, it can result in the growth of poor quality collagen that looks uneven and bumpy. There are different types of acne scars called Box, Rolling and Icepick.
DULL, DEHYDRATED skin can feel uncomfortable and tight, giving the appearance of tiredness, enlarged pores and fine lines. It is an indicator that your skin is not in a healthy balance. These factors lead to the skin's gradual depletion of high quality collagen and elastin, vitamins and plumping hyaluronic acid.

Hannah is brilliant. She is really warm and has a very gentle manner. She is highly intelligent and very passionate about her work and is the only skin specialist I have seen (and I've seen A LOT) who has taken into account my "skin history" and tailored a skin regime and treatment which suits me. I suffer from melasma which is really tricky to treat. My skin has never looked better and my confidence has improved. There are many Harley Street "cowboys" out there of which I, sadly, have first hand experience. An aesthetic nurse friend of mine recommended Hannah. I wish I had known about her sooner
