Cambridge University Tennis Club
The first of our Summer Tournaments has concluded with the CU Alumuni taking the honours (pun intended) over the other place's Alumni. Meanwhile the Champagne Leagues have reached their Finals weekend, the draw is hErE including a first Super 6's round. And meanwhile the inaugural CURTC Handicap Doubles Championship is coming down to the wire.

Not so - the Ladies Real Tennis Association (LRTA) was occupying the Blue Court for a tournament with the intriguing name of The High/Low: nothing to do with high v. low culture, or high v. low stature, but all about handicaps. The best player is paired with the weakest player; the second best with the second weakest, etc, which leads to some intriguing tactics as well as very close matches.

Real Tennis is currently enjoying a revival. Several new courts have been built recently, and others are planned. Cambridge, with its two excellent courts, is one of the best places in the world to play this fascinating game. Membership of the Cambridge University Real Tennis Club is open to all, not just to members of the University.
The Cambridge Leagues (originally known as the KBCL) gives around 100 players the chance to enjoy competitive, convenient and professionally marked tennis. The Leagues has a number of divisions for both Singles (sponsored by Tayabali & White) and Doubles (sponsored by NW Brown Wealth Management) spanning the 30 to 70+ handicap range.

Two fantastic real tennis courts near the centre of Cambridge. A University club but membership is open to all. Contact the professionals to arrange a visit, lessons or membership.

The real tennis courts do rather give them impression that they are about to fall down. They stand, waiting for the inevitable day when the are wholly subsumed by the Cambridge university library. Until they die, however, they are one of the only places in the country where you can treat yourself to a bracing round of real tennis - none of this lawn nonsense. Who could truly say this was a bad thing?
