Dorset Garage Doors was founded in 1991 by Peter and Pat Bovenizer. Peter having completed a full career in the Royal Signals, then worked as a Project Manager in the Computer Business, decided to use his mechanical and electronic engineering skills in a new field, and chose the garage door business.
From moderate beginnings, business improved and in 2003 his son-in-law, Joe Shimmin joined the firm. Joe's background is as a fully qualified motor mechanic, skills which are eminently suitable for working with garage doors and electric operators. A decision was taken, in our early years of trading that to be specialists in our field we had to concentrate solely on the garage door and automation industry.
