I'm mainly a social runner, and I love exploring the local roads and trails with my club, Hiltingbury Long distance Runners. I also enjoy challenging myself and pushing my limits; I have recently completed my first marathon and ultramarathon and I am hooked!

I bought a Camelbak HAWG from Alton Sports on 26th November 2020 that comes with a lifetime warranty on both the bladder and the bag.
The bladder has developed a fault that no longer seals and now leaks fluid as a result.
Now, you’d think that all you’d have to do is return the faulty bladder and then send you a replacement in exchange, but oh no.. this is not possible.
I was instructed to return the entire bag (at my cost) or they would offer me a refund of cost of a bladder as they sell the bag and bladder as one complete unit and can’t supply just the bladder as they don’t stick them

We came in for 1st time on Saturday. We waited at the door to be let in, a young girl answered and asked us if we had a mask. Which we didn’t and she eye rolled at us. Let us in and we went straight upstairs, as I could see it was just trainers downstairs and wanted to look at womenswear. The girl followed us up and stood in corner staring at us as we browsed, needless to say we left quickly! Won’t be back after that unwelcoming experience.

Fantastic customer care. Nice that everyone was still sensible enough to wear masks.
Richard was awesome, went in for a pair of trainers and came out with 2 along with other goodies. Spot on with the amount of attention and space. This is our second shopping session at the Farnham branch and both occasions have been brilliant. Love my new pain free feet. Walking on clouds is lovely.

I visited the Farnham store at the beginning of June to look for some cushioned trainers for a 100km ultra marathon this weekend just gone. I received fabulous help and advice, I was allowed to try them on with my own socks, and the sales assistant understood exactly what I was after.
The store had excellent covid protocols in place and it felt very safe. I was really impressed and will definitely be back for more gear in the future.

1 star is one too many for the poor customer service I received in the Farnham store today. I was asked to leave the store simply for not wearing a mask despite the fact it is not a legal requirement, nor did they ask me if I was exempt. That’s fair enough if it’s the business policy, but the rude remarks by the female member of staff as I left is simply not on.
If you want good customer service, don’t go to the Farnham branch.

Awful website experience, after making order/payment online had to follow up with phone calls unanswered and emails to which no one replied to find out after a lot of chasing and wasted time I managed to get to speak to someone that although order and payment was taken the Brooks Ghost 14 I had paid for was not in stock! Would not recommend.

So I had to wait for 15mins to get into the shop. (As it was suuuuppppperr busy and was maxed out with number of people in the shop.) However the member of staff was great and I explained what trainers I wanted. He didn't have them HOWEVER! the other options were great and I picked up two amazing pairs of trainers! Honestly one of the best running shops in the UK!

Awful!!I bought some shoes from there Eastleigh branch and wasn’t advised of their return policy by the person that processed the transaction and the sign that they have on the counter was covered by a box full of energisers so I had no idea of there policy until I came back the next day after realising I didn’t like the shoes that they wouldn’t… refund me and would only give me a credit note. I have been in since and they do not sell enough for me to be able to spend the voucher received as the stock they hold is just shocking for women. Not happy at all!

I visited the shop in Farnham in desperate need for a pair of trail shoes for an ultra the coming weekend as my last paif had failed me. the gentleman was really helpful and i tried 8 pairs on the treadml… before coming away with a pair of Hokas . 35 miles in wet muddy and hilly conditions and not a single blister or any pain in my feet ... i was so pleased with them. thank you Alton sports .

One of the guys at uni said this was a good place for running trainers, and admittedly they have a pretty good selection, but they really need to sort their service out. I was served by a very moody girl who wasn't interested in me or my running and to be honest I would have been better off going to Sports Soccer.

Small weekly market in the center of town. Good for food shopping if you have the time. The butcher sells very good bacon, the fruit and veg is generally good (although if things have been reduced I'd advise eating them quickly as they're likely to go off), baked good, cheese and eggs also available. There are usually deli stalls selling olives, nuts, pastrys etc which are great for a treat. Other stalls include books, games, clothes and plants.

A good stock of running shoes, and the owner certainly knows his stuff. Excellent for trying out different shoes on the treadmill, and the prices are generally ok.
My only gripe is the attitude; some of the staff (especially on a Saturday) can be a bit offhand and unhelpful. They make you feel like a nuisance for asking about sizes etc. Oh well.

Specialist sports shop in central Alton that caters for all sports but really specialises on running - that's down to the owner Toby Lambert, a weel known and very accomplished international athlete. When buying running shoes here you'll benefit from the full weight of Toby's experience - there's an in-stire treadmill to try out all the options, the range in stock is massive and the prices are very competitive. Great for all runners.
