I've been working in the arboriculture industry since 2004. After attending Barony College in Dumfries and gaining some basic industry qualifications I started my career down in Shropshire before moving to Sweden for a time, then back to Bonny Scotland.
I worked for a number of different companies across the UK and Sweden on a self-employed basis until early 2016, when I decided I'd finally gained enough experience and qualifications in the trade that I had confidence, knowledge and ability to offer customers. That's when I started advertising for myself.

Services
Welcome to Perthshire Tree Surgery, a small business specialising in the highest quality, professional tree care. Whatever your arboricultural requirements, our experienced, qualified arborists have the skills and knowledge to address your tree surgery needs. Based in Crieff, we have over 15 years of experience in the arboriculture industry, across the UK and Scandinavia.
Our arborists are trained and experienced in the safe removal of very large and/or very dangerous trees. Where we are restricted by a tree's proximity to buildings, roads, services or surrounding trees, we remove trees piece by piece. This often involves the use of specialist rigging equipment, which allows us to lower every piece to the ground in a controlled and safe manner.
A crown thin lessens the canopy density by around 15% through selective removal of small branches. This allows increased air flow within the crown, discouraging disease and lessening the sail effect in high winds, which greatly decreases the likelihood of storm damage (root upheaval, snapped limbs etc.).
To maintain overall health of the canopy (and of pedestrian or road traffic beneath) we remove dead, dying and diseased wood. We may also remove branches which have grown into a position where they rub together - to prevent them from becoming a safety concern in the future.
As our arborists move around within the canopy of the tree, we are able to examine any weak structural unions, crown dieback, cavities, decay or other problems - remedying where possible and advising on further tree care where necessary. If you are concerned for the health of your tree, but no obvious issues are present, the best course of action will likely be to carry out a crown clean.
