It is well known and understood that heat and humidity affect the performance of people and equipment. Any variation in temperature and/or humidity from the normal comfort range results in a corresponding decrease in performance. It is therefore essential to provide a suitable ventilation or air conditioning system to maintain reasonable comfort conditions.
Optimair have many years of experience in the design, supply and installation of air conditioning, ventilation, heating and fume extraction systems for both industry and commerce; including factories, warehouses, offices, hotels, retail and leisure. Also, as we are not tied to any manufacturers, we can provide sensible, economic advice and cost-effective solutions.

Regulation 6 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 states: "effective and suitable provision shall be made to ensure that every enclosed workplace is ventilated by a sufficient quantity of fresh or purified air". Therefore, it is essential to provide sufficient and appropriate ventilation in order to ensure a productive and safe working environment.
Evaporative air cooling provides the most energy efficient control of temperatures, particularly for industrial environments. During warmer weather (when outside temperatures are above 20oC), the proposed Breezair Evaporative Coolers utilise the adiabatic effect to reduce the temperature of the incoming air.
Air conditioning systems can provide and maintain internal air conditions at a pre-determined level, regardless of the time of year or weather conditions. Generally, systems fall into two types: Comfort Cooling and Close Control Air Conditioning. Comfort cooling can provide cooling (and heating) for offices and retail areas, with ceiling mounted cassette units or concealed fan coil units linked to one or more external condensing units.
CIBSE Technical Memorandum TM44 provides guidance on conducting an air conditioning inspection to satisfy the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations 2007. The focus is on systems that use refrigerants to produce cooling.
Part 4 of the Regulations requires the person who has control of the operation of any air conditioning systems in a building that have a collective cooling capacity greater than 12kW to ensure the overall system is inspected by an accredited air conditioning inspector at regular intervals (at least every 5 years).
