Luke's journey with Chinese medicine started when he underwent a course of acupuncture treatment for a long term back injury which had led to him stopping most forms of exercise. This successful treatment experience began an interest in health and prompted a change in career from office administration to a career within the health sector.
Luke studied acupuncture for a period of four years at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in Reading. Luke trained in both Five Element Theory and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and graduated from CICM with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree and Licentiate in Acupuncture. During this time, Luke also trained at the BODYHARMONICS Centre achieving a Diploma in Tui Na Foundation (Chinese therapeutic massage).

Acupuncture is a holistic healthcare system that has existed for over 2000 years. It aims to strengthen the mind, body and spirit and treats the underlying cause of any complaint by balancing the natural energy within the body. Acupuncture uses a number of different diagnostic methods to get a complete picture of the clients health.
Massage therapy is one of the oldest health care practices. It's applied with the hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. It affects most of the systems of the body and helps to promote the circulation of blood, reduces and enhances tissue healing. Appointments begin with information gathering and the client is asked to only remove clothing to their level of comfort if oil or wax is being used during the massage.
Reflexology, acupuncture and massage all have their roots based in Chinese medicine and share the concept of using pressure points on the body to relieve pain and promote the body's ability to heal itself. The underlying theory is that there are predefined pressure points or "reflex areas" on the feet and hands that are connected energetically to specific organs and body parts through energy channels in the body.
Acupuncture can be used to treat an enormous variety of conditions from sporting injuries to digestive upsets or even the common cold. Anyone from newborns to the elderly can benefit from a course of treatment. Acupuncture is a very safe and effective form of medicine with a history of many thousands of years.
