Kimberley Gulf
Kimberley Gulf have been working in North West Wales since 1974, initially focussing on timber treatments (dry rot, wet rot and woodworm) and damp proofing. The company was originally founded by Dave (Patch) Roberts in Bodorgan, Anglesey; the name came from Dave's time working in the Kimberley diamond mines in South Africa, and the Gulf Stream wind that bought him home when he sailed his boat back to Anglesey.

He told us he had plenty of time to think up the company name on his travels! Martin Ellis bought Kimberley Gulf from Dave in 1988 and established its headquarters in Church Street, Caernarfon. Among other members of staff Peter Roberts joined the company when Martin took over. Gareth Ellis joined the business in 2002.
Services
Kimberley Gulf carry out pre-sales or pre-purchase Timber and Damp Surveys. We can assess your property for Timber and Damp defects prior to you marketing your home and can inspect a property that you are considering to purchase or have been asked for a survey from a mortgage company or recommended by a Home Buyers Survey.
Damp in structural timbers and walls can point to long term problems, and building up an accurate picture of the extent of a damp problem is crucial to deciding upon the required corrective actions. Using a hand held meter we are able to assess damp in timber and walls; this is a clean and non-destructive method of assessment and is very accurate in timber.
Damp can be a major cause of concern for any property owner, and we have many decades of practical experience in damp surveys and evaluating damp problems in all types of buildings. We will undertake a non-destructive evaluation which will be tailored to your property and the different conditions to which it is exposed.
Kimberley Gulf's Timber & Damp survey service combines the main features of our separate and more specific timber survey and damp survey services (which tend to be more detailed for a specific area rather than covering a whole property). This service is intended to provide property buyers and sellers alike with an overall 'whole house' survey of the state of the structural timber and any damp issues.
Kimberley Gulf carry out Management Asbestos Surveys and Refurbishment/Demolition Surveys using the HSG 246 guidance. Both Peter Roberts and Gareth Ellis hold the BOHS P402 qualification in Building Surveys and Bulk Sampling for asbestos.

If you are a 'duty holder'; that is if you own a property that is non-domestic, be it commercial, residential, or is any ones place of work; then you must have an asbestos register for that building if it was constructed before the year 2000.This is a non-intrusive inspection that logs any ACMs (Asbestos Containing Materials) that are present so that you can advise staff, occupants, residents, visitors or contactors for their safety.
