With our distinctive navy blue branding, the Rouse Showroom is a familiar landmark on the route into Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. We have been manufacturing high quality, made-to-measure sofas and chairs in our Cheltenham workshop for over 30 years. The business was established as a traditional upholsterer in 1938 by Mr Rouse.
Over the years, we've expanded to make our own quality furniture, and to supply complete interior soft furnishings - carpets, rugs, curtains, blinds, paint and wallpaper, too. All our furniture is made to order to your requirements - from the height of the back to the comfort of the cushion fillings and the look and feel of the fabric.

Struggling to find the perfect size and shape of handmade sofa or chair? S Rouse are traditional manufacturers of high quality, made-to-measure sofas and chairs, based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Our sofas and chairs are made to order using your exact measurements, and upholstered in your choice from hundreds of fabrics.
The sofas on our product pages are shown with standard measurements, but all sizes can be customised to match your exact needs. Perhaps you prefer your sofa to have a deeper seat or a higher back - our aim is for everyone to sit comfortably. Perhaps you prefer a three-seater and a two-seater sofa, rather than a traditional three-piece suite.
We make headboards for the full range of bed sizes, including oversized and statement headboards. Our installers will fix the headboard to the wall for health and safety reasons, or we can ensure the fittings allow you to fix it directly to your bed.

We offer a full restoration and repair service - including antique restoration - to return tired-but-loved furniture to its former glory. We make headboards for the full range of bed sizes, including oversized and statement headboards. If you are happy with your current furniture but fancy a change we can make loose covers in a fabric of your choice which can be washable or dry cleanable, we have a large selection of suitable fabrics for you to choose from. We are also happy to use your own fabric as long as it meets all required safety standards.

I have use S. Rouse & Co over a period of several years. I have had in then past a fabulous sofa created for me using William Morris fabrics. It has become both a focal point in my home and a timeless classic that looks as good today as the day it was delivered. I had no hesitation to go back recently to have another sofa made that has not disappointed. Classy pieces of furniture stand the test of time and therefore are worth the investment.

We recently had dining chairs and 2 armchairs recovered by Rouse & Co, as well as purchasing a new sofa and 2 chairs from them. The service in the showroom was professional, efficient yet friendly; they really know their stuff. Their deliverymen were friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend them. We are delighted with the result

Just had 2 recently upholstered chairs returned with new upholstery - a superb job. Excellent turnaround times, friendly and professional service - what more does a customer need?!
David even offered to make a table runner out of the 1m of upholstery that was left over - it was just what I was looking for.

I recently had a sofa recovered by S Rouse & Co. They initially visited my home to assess my sofa and to advise if it was suitable for recovering.
As it was a good sofa it was worth recovering. It was originally a cream sofa and with help from them on colour I chose the Wedgewood velvet.
I am delighted with the result and it looks lovely in my newly renovated lounge.
I would highly recommend them.

We spent a long time looking for a supplier of sofas to replace our old ones and were unimpressed with most places we visited. Finally we popped into Rouse and are delighted with the outcome. David visited our home to advise us on the design of sofa and we had a few happy visits choosing fabrics with lots of help from the knowledgeable staff. The result is stunning and we are so happy to own such amazing pieces of furniture, we chose brave colours and it has worked so well. Now we just need people to sit on them! The attention to detail and workmanship is fantastic and everyone was very friendly
