Reflexology is a non intrusive complementary health therapy. A reflexologist works on points on the feet known as reflex points. Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advise and Jenny would encourage you to tell your doctor that you are receiving reflexology. Reflexology is believed to date back to Ancient Egypt, India and China.
As reflexologists are not medically trained, they cannot diagnose or claim to cure medical conditions. Reflexology is a very individual treatment which works with you holistically, so it is not possible to know in advance how you will react. The theory is that reflexology helps the body to restore its balance naturally.
After one or two treatments, your body may respond in a very noticeable way. Most people note a sense of well-being and relaxation. However, sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous, tearful or experiencing headaches. This is usually transitory and is believed to be part of the healing process.
Does reflexology tickle? The simple answer is no. Most people who are new to reflexology ask this question and are surprised to find that it doesn't tickle. Is reflexology painful? Some areas of the feet are naturally more sensitive than others. You may find that some reflex points feel slightly sore or tender when pressed or scratchy.
