Glenridding Sailing Centre

We are endorsed by the R.Y.A to teach their National Sailing Scheme for sailing dinghies and keelboats to both Adults and Children of almost any age. All our Two day courses run from a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday. Our Five day course begins on a Monday, running through to Friday. All you will need is something warm to wear and waterproofs, an old pair of trainers and a change of clothing for the end of the day.

Ever fancied just 'giving it a go' without wanting to commit to a 2 day sailing course, or maybe you haven't sailed for a while and would appreciate a little tuition to help you get back on the water? You can choose from either slow and steady, like our beautiful Traditional Boats you can see here or fast and (potentially!)

This two day course is a basic introduction to sailing and is offered on its own or makes up the first two days of our RYA Level 1 + 2 Five Day Course. Along with giving you the basic understanding of how a boat is handled and what makes it work, it will give you a good foundation into what makes a safe sailor.

Once completed the successful sailor will have a good understanding of what makes sailing safe and be capable of sailing confidently on his/her own in light winds. The two day RYA Level 2 course at Glenridding Sailing Centre can be combined with our RYA 5 Day Course. Emphasis is still given to the 'on the water' practical side, however there is more depth given to the theory.

This course can be run on its own over 2 days or combined with the RYA Level 2 Course to make up the RYA Level 2 + 3 Five Day Course. On completion of this course, the successful sailor will be safety conscious and capable of sailing without an instructor onboard in light to moderate conditions.

This new module on the RYA syllabus gives you the opportunity to practise and consolidate sailing techniques learnt on RYA Level 1 and RYA Level 2, and experience some of the activities that the advanced modules have to offer.This will build confidence, support the development of good technique and allow more enjoyable and successful independent sailing.
