Clive Scott Chimney Sweeps
Singing and dancing as Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins we are not. However with years of experience as a sweep Clive Scott can promise to be far more professional in the modern and traditional art of Chimney Sweeping Services. Using the latest high tech equipment to sweep Chimney and Flue Liners, ensuring we give the Best, Cleanest and Safest possible service to our Customers.

Clive Scott Chimney Sweeps are a family run business and from our Dartford Office we cover all of North West Kent. In addition we also cover a very large area of Essex from our base in North East Essex. Travelling back and forth between these two locations means we have many valued customers en-route.
Services
At C W J SCOTT Chimney Sweeps we pride ourselves on our fast, friendly, reliable service. A lot of our business has been built on repeat work and recommendations. When we visit a client for the first time there is always that unknown element as with any trade coming to your home for the first time.
The most common cause of a blocked chimney is a bird's nest. Birds, once they have chosen a chimney that takes there fancy, will continually drop twigs down the inside and watch until they see them wedge. This can be some feet or meters down. Once a nest has been successfully built it is quite usual for these birds to return year after year.
Due to the very nature of our business we spend quite a lot of our time out on the road. Some of our clients live in very rural areas of Kent, Essex and South Suffolk where it is sometimes hard to keep connected to the mobile phone network. Whilst we appreciate it can be very annoying not getting through to someone when you need them, our office line is always available outside of the hours listed below.
Over the past few years we have come across a vast array of chimney cowls and terminals. Some are factory made and others of the home made variety. A professionally made cowl or terminal is designed with a specific use in mind and should only be used for that use. One of the most commonly misused terminals is the Bonnet Insert or Half Round terminal as it is sometimes known.
In this blog we are concentrating on the installation of wood burning and multi fuel stoves, which has seen a massive increase in growth over the last few years and we can see no end to this growth in sight.

It has become a regular inquiry over the phone or via email from many of our first time customers who live inside the M25 corridor as to whether they can have a stove fitted or if the one which is in the house they have just purchased is ok to use.We always ask their location and then advise them as what type of stoves they can have fitted, ie DEFRA approved for smoke controlled areas and non DEFRA for those outside of smoke controlled areas.

Clive was brilliant, very polite, professional and friendly. Fixed a problem I was having with my fire and cleaned my chimney, left the area very clean and tidy. Clive explained all aspects of the work to me and the virus protection measures he takes. I will be using this company again. Communication from Lorna was excellent too. I was able to pay by card using a portable machine which made it very convenient.

Clive came and cleaned our chimney this afternoon. We knew there was a bird's nest up there which turned out to be huge and Clive removed it expertly. Absolutely no mess. Professional job and a registered sweep unlike some others who work locally. Clive was friendly and my 5 year old loved seeing the inside of the chimney as Clive was using a camera to check all was well. Definitely will be recommending and using again.

Clive arrived on time and carried out an extremely thorough sweeping of our 4 fireplaces and accompanying chimneys, two of which had completely blocked dampers, which required extra attention. The work was completed to the highest quality, with the fireplaces and surrounding areas spotlessly clean and in complete working order. Clive's quote for the work was competitive and we were charged as quoted – all correspondents between Clive and Lorna were prompt and professional – a pleasure to work with. Thanks Clive!
