Our Spirit Of Oxford Cruise explores the areas of Oxford 'off the Beaten track' that lie at the heart of the city's unique charm. Departing Folly Bridge in Oxford city centre we travel upstream passing quaint residential suburbs before reaching Binsey and majestic Port Meadow.

These areas of unexpected natural beauty have inspired the work of Oxford's best loved literary icons including Lewis Carroll, C S Lewis, Evelyn Waugh and Gerard Manly Hopkins. These sights are off the tourist trail but represent some of Oxford's most beautiful and intriguing scenery. Port Meadow, a vast area of common land, has remained little changed since prehistoric times and supports plants and bird-life in abundance.
Set sail aboard one of our River Launches and enjoy a relaxing cruise as the sun begins to wanE. There's something rather serene and lovely about this evening cruise (a favourite of our skippers). Maybe it's that as you set sail in a 'Gentleman's Edwardian River Launch' just as the sun is waning, when you can experience that wonderful changing light and that distinctive calm of evening on the water?

Our hen do booking was a throughly lovely experience from start to finish! The staff couldn't do more for us (this includes those who deal with bookings via email). The afternoon tea was delicious and we were able to take drinks purchased from the restaurant aboard the boat. 10/10 would recommend.

They gave me a refund for missing the cruise. I’m so happy. I had initially written a negative comment but they are lovely. Thank you so so much. And I had genuinely thought that I had made a booking on 19th. I’ve never felt so happy.

Hamper was just a ripoff for £15 Hot chocolate from Folly Restaurant was the worst hot chocolate I've ever tasted total rubbish. It's not a cruise you would want to go on twice, no wildlife just trees and ducks but ok for a first time experience.

A group of us did a 2.5 hour trip, travelling both up and then down the river from Folly Bridge. It was a great and memorable experience - the commentary was knowledgeable and interesting throughout, the electric engine means that there is minimal boat noise, and you can also order up drinks and a picnic to take with you. I would highly recommend this as a trip to get to know the rivers, canals and backwaters of Oxford, and a great way to spend a morning or afternoon. For me, visiting some of the areas made famous by Philip Pullman's books was especially enjoyable.

We had a really lovely afternoon tea cruise yesterday. Our boat was cute and comfortable - a very smart traditional style boat with space for about 12 passengers. Very pleasant 90 minute cruise including travel through a lock at Iffley. Lots of rowing boats out training which was fun to see. Bits of the university colleges can be seen but these are in the distance. The focus is really on the river and its life. We had a very polite and personable boat driver and the afternoon tea itself was extremely goof with fresh, fresh clearly homemade items and made more memorable by being whilst floating

Lovely, lovely trips aboard electric boats that are built in the style of of Edwardian boats. The drivers/hosts are knowledgeable and charming. They'll tell you about Alice in Wonderland's links with Oxford or the history and play you music on a wind-up record player. You can hire the boats and eat supper as you float silently along the rivers of Oxford or you can go on a scheduled trip in the summer.

They do:
Lunchtime Picnics
Sunset Picnic Trip
Mad Hatter Tea Parties
Wind in the Willows Adventure
Adventures in Narnia
