To serve our community by developing happy, confident, resilient children. Creating independent learners with an inclusive world-view who are supported in their wellbeing and developing resilience to the challenges they may face. We will deliver a broad and balanced curriculum that is accessible to all pupils.
All activities offered will be linked to our curriculum plans and tailored to our community to provide a coherent learning journey for each child. Our investigations into historical events and people teach our pupils to be critical thinkers. Our carefully chosen topics allow pupils to research, study a range of sources, discuss, compare and contrast and present their findings in a critical way. This allows learners to understand key historical concepts such as interpretation, chronology, cause and effect and the significance of certain events.
At Weetwood we believe that our pupils social, emotional mental health (SEMH) is as important as their academic acheivements. We use the Thrive Approach and out Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) to support the pupils in developing strategies to manage their behaviour and worries, become resilient and become lifelong learners.
We hope you find it both interesting and informative. We appreciate how important it is for you to choose the right school for your child. We would be very pleased to show you around the school, as words cannot give the full picture of the school, its atmosphere and the work of the pupils and staff.
At Weetwood our English curriculum has been developed to recognise the importance of English in every aspect of daily life and to develop pupils' love of reading, writing and discussion. We recognise the importance of nurturing a culture where pupils love to read, take pride in their writing and can clearly and accurately adapt their language and style for a range of contexts.
At Weetwood we recognise reading as a key life skill, which underpins access to the rest of the curriculum. Our aim is for all pupils to read words and simple sentences by the end of Reception, become successful, fluent readers by the end of Key Stage 1 and develop a lifelong love of reading as they move through school.
