John Harvey is the Driving School owner. John is a fully qualified Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor and has been for 15 years. He is a Grade A DVSA ADI. He is the highest graded driving instructor in the South East according to the DVSA website. Grade A instructors are the highest grade any ADI can become and according to the DVSA they have 'Very high overall performance'.
John started out as a driving instructor in 2005. Having trained at BSM he then moved to the AA in 2007. He made the decision to go independent in 2008 and started John Harvey Driving School. John trained some of, and provides training to all the instructors currently working for John Harvey Driving School.

We currently provide manual driving lessons to local pupils living in Canterbury, Folkestone, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Dover & Deal every week.
We provide automatic driving lessons in the Canterbury area. There are many reasons why people choose to learn in an automatic car, they may struggle with gears or the clutch or are worried about stalling. For some an automatic car gives you more time to concentrate on the road and what is happening around you.

Amazing place to learn how to drive and pass your practical exam. I passed first time with Jason. He supported and encouraged me the entire time. He will teach you everything you need to know to pass the exam and to be a safe driver. He’s honest with your progress. He’s also really funny 😁 Couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.

Fantastic driving school that helped me pass my practical test! After having a poor experience with previous driving instructors, Gary from John Harvey Driving School was a breath of fresh air. Helped me feel confident in my abilities in the car, and taught me everything I needed to know to pass my test. 10/10 would recommend ☺️

I passed first time yesterday with Matt.
He was amazing from beginning to end, it was very easy to get comfortable properly driving with Matt.
His style of teaching made it very easy to remember my manoeuvres, and
all my observations while being on the road.
I would recommend Matt from John Harvey Driving School to anyone with any level of driving experience for sure!
I'm going to miss doing my driving lessons 100% just because it was so fun.

I took my lessons from Matt at John Harvey Driving School. With little experience of driving in the UK, I had a lot of questions in mind. Thanks to Matt's patient, clear, motivating guidance and his spot-on instructions throughout the lessons, I passed my practical test in the first try. I'd highly recommend him also for his impeccable local knowledge on potential test routes in Canterbury and Herne Bay.

My instructor Matt was excellent, providing clear, calm and professional guidance. Rather than simply teaching me to "pass a test", Matt taught me how to drive safely, confidently and appropriately. Matt gave me sound techniques for manoeuvres, useful tips for various situations and kept the mood positive with good humour and a patient approach. Matt also made sure I was familiar with the test routes the examiners use so I would be properly prepared for the test.

I learnt with John and passed first time. John is an excellent, calm instructor who communicates clearly and has seemingly endless patience for nervous drivers like myself. His methods make tricky manoeuvres much more straightforward and he doesn't make you feel silly if you do something wrong. He told me at the start that he would teach me to drive rather than just how to pass my test, and the skills he's taught me have given me confidence driving my own vehicle in the real world. I honestly never thought I would be able to drive, and wouldn't hesitate in recommending John Harvey Driving School
