2007 saw the merger of my two businesses into my new business - Amazing Cakes by Jean! Nothing else changed - still the same personal service -still the same wonderful cakes for your wedding, birthday, christening or any celebration! In 2000, realising that there was a market for high quality cakes individually created for specific celebrations and not simply something to be chosen off a supermarket shelf, I started trading as 'Novelty Cakes!'.
My aim was to create cakes to make a real impact and to add a sparkle to any celebration. At the same time, commercial production now means that many people have forgotten how moist and delicious a true cake is and many young people have never experienced one at all! I was determined from the start that my cakes would taste as cakes should taste!

Jean made the most amazing cake for our wedding day! We first met Jean at a wedding fayre and had no idea what we wanted for a cake. We tried her Victoria sponge and it was lovely and light! My (now) husband liked her silhouette design and we were able to adapt it with her help to make it our own. Our three tier cake consisted of victoria sponge, chocolate and fruit cake, all of which were very tasty. We loved our cake as it told 'our' story. It was presented beautifully and we also asked for an engraved cake knife which we can treasure forever as a momento of our day. Thank you so very much!!

Please be aware that a large deposit of £275 was taken 18 months ago for a wedding later this year (2016) and Jean will NOT be returning a penny even after an 8 month cancellation notice period was given - this really seems rather unfair to me being an outsider looking in on a distressed enough family, to not even offer alittle return, Jean was also asked if she would make a cake for a birthday instead as there was plenty of money in her pot as she states cakes start at £50 - BUT has refused. Please be careful when booking so far ahead people out there. This has left a sour taste and seems very
