My journey into chiropractic began in my thirties, after injuring my back when sailing. It was then, as a chartered accountant, that I started to learn the science of musculoskeletal injuries and how to regain and safeguard a healthy spine. I reached my forties and began to look for something more from working life; chiropractic offered me the opportunity to learn a new skill, work with people, and give something back to my community.
After respiratory disorders, the second most common reason patients seek help of the UK healthcare system is for back pain relief. 85% of people are disabled by an attack of back pain during their lives, and at any given time 7% of the adult population are suffering from back pain. Back pain is responsible for countless sick days from work, and is a source of total misery for sufferers.
Sciatica is a medical condition characterized by pain going down the leg from the lower back. This pain may go down the back, outside, or front of the leg. Typically, symptoms are only on one side of the body. Certain causes, however, may result in pain on both sides. Lower back pain is sometimes but not always present.
The first thing to say about sport injuries is that the majority are actually avoidable. This may be of little comfort if you are currently injured, but most sports injuries relate to an acute trauma or repetitive stressing of soft tissue, often avoidable by looking at technique, posture and approach.
After lower back pain and neck pain, the most common joint pain chiropractors treat is what is often referred to as peripheral joint pain. This includes pain in the hips and knees, as well as shoulders, hands and feet.
Because we use them constantly in our daily lives, these joints are more prone to wear and tear and can often show early signs of arthritis - though as with back pain, the causes of pain in these joints can be influenced by several factors. There are a number of risk factors which are associated with joint pain.

John has a relaxed, easy manner and an extraordinary talent for identifying and fixing the problems. Clearly a man at the top of his game, he uses a modern approach to solving the issues, a world away from the contortion, bone cracking methods of the past. No wonder he is rated as one of the best in the county. He restored my creaking skeleton to one fit for purpose again, for which I am so, so grateful.. The results were so impressive, I recommended he treat my wife. Not something I would do lightly, but once again, he achieved miracles.. Cannot praise him enough for the great job he did.. would

I registered with Katy Emblin when I was finding it difficult to move my knee freely after a knee replacement. She is a very good massage therapist who is easy to talk to and understands the problems encountered with muscles as we get older. The whole practice works very efficiently with text reminders of appointments in addition to written cards. I have always been seen at the appointment time and met with a warm welcome on arrival.

I came to see John during a holiday in St Ives after having suffered weeks of back, hip and leg problems. I had four treatments with John and returned home a new man! My back, hip and leg feel better now than they have done for a very long time and I have nothing but praise for John for his professional and expert treatment. My sincere thanks to John and his excellent receptionist.

Tom the Gamer’s” mother here! I had an emergency appointment whilst on holiday in St Ives; I’d “done something” to my back & was in agony.. expected crunch-click, but got the “gun”, (which I already knew was something wonderful). Turns out I’d popped some ribs & John wasn’t sure about a shoulder & lower back issue going on too.. wasn’t out of pain after my appointment, but, WOW! By the end of Wednesday, was moving with very little pain! Today (next day), still moving better & better all the time! THANK YOU!! I am hugely grateful for & impressed by your service. I hope John
