Willem established Lofoten Asset Management in 2009 and is the CEO and CIO. He has been involved in the management of European equity funds since 1995 and has been in the financial industry since 1992. Prior to establishing Lofoten Asset Management, he held senior positions with Morgan Stanley, JO Hambro Capital Management and Parcom Capital (a subsidiary of ING).
Willem is fluent in five languages and holds a BSc (Hons) in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester, an MA in European Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences. In addition Willem is a CFA charter holder.

Lofoten's investment approach incorporates environmental, social and governance ("ESG") issues into its investment analysis and decision-making process, as well as into its ownership policies and procedures, in line with its commitments as a signatory to the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment ("PRI").
The Stewardship Code ("the Code") was published by the Financial Reporting Council ("FRC"), the UK's independent regulator responsible for promoting high quality corporate governance and reporting in order to foster investment. The Code sets out good practice for institutional investors in their dealings with the companies in which they have invested.
