Welton Sailing Club is based on Welton Waters, these are a group of former Clay Pits located on the banks of the Humber estuary about 3 miles from the Humber Bridge. The lake that we sail on is one of the largest sailing lakes in the area, having an area of some 100 acres. Its safe, enclosed waters make it an ideal place to learn to sail.
However it is also an excellent racing location. There are no shallows and the open aspect of the Lake, being open to the Humber Estuary to the south, and to flat land on the other three sides, mean that it usually enjoys good steady winds. We have a modern well equipped clubhouse that was completely rebuilt in 1996.

At the T junction, turn Right, follow the road past the new housing. Go across the Level Crossing. Follow the road, for about 1 mile, through a sharp left, a sharp right and finally another sharp left. You will now have a small pond on your right hand side. Keep going, after about 400m you will pass a brick building (Welton Waters Adventure Centre) carry on past this.
The Club owns a number of dinghies, including Picos, Toppers and an Access. The Access is a sailing boat that was specifically designed to be suitable for disabled sailing. All these boats are available to hire to those members who would like to 'have a go' before deciding to buy their own boat. The Access is a small and easily handled boat.
Our Racing is organised on a Handicap basis to let different classes compete on a fair basis. While all members are free to use the water while racing is in progress, we do ask that members out cruising keep clear of the Races. Racing at Welton is based on the RYA "Portsmouth Yardstick" system. The Handicaps are used in one of two ways.
The Streaker is a single handed racing dinghy. It forms the largest fleet at Welton. It offers lively racing performance, in a broad range of conditions, belying its relatively modest handicap. The country's major Streaker builder is a member at Welton and his workshops are nearby. The Miracle is a family friendly class with a growing racing scene.
Welton Wake and Ski Club is one of the longest established waterski and wakeboard clubs in the UK. We are a non profit making club, owned and run by the members for the benefit of the members. The club owns a Master Craft X1 Wakeboard Edition boat that can be fully loaded to suit all levels of wakeboarders and waterskiers.
