I am one of a fortunate few who is lucky enough to love my job, and I love coming into the office every day. That hasn't always been the case: setting up a successful professional firm is not easy. But we are now fortunate to have a great team of people with fantastic skills. The result is that I am passionate about cbsl accountants, having founded the firm over 15 years ago.
I knew that Accountancy would be my career path as maths was my preferred subject at school. It has always fascinated me how maths transcends language barriers, and its understanding is vital internationally. The way I think of Accounting is that it is a fundamental part of our way of life. This is because I believe that every person in the world uses the principle of Accounting at least once in their lives.
I have always had an interest in business; there is something about watching an idea grow to be a success that is exciting, which has formed the basis of my career. I moved to Leeds to study Business and Management at Leeds Trinity University, where it became clear my enthusiasm came from understanding a company's financial position.
It's an old clich but my family are my world - from the stress of trying to make it to work on time after getting everyone out of the door in the morning, with the right bags and shoes on the right feet, to the pleasure of reading bed time stories and practising spellings in the evenings, my family continually remind me what is most important when work feels all-consuming and frantic.
I feel accountancy was my natural career path, as during my years at school, maths was always my favourite subject. It made me realise that I just like working with numbers and the logic that is behind maths. When asked, what do you want to be when you grow up I always replied to be an accountant or work in a bank.
