As is the case with most things in life, brochures and catalogues can come in a huge range of different shapes and sizes. It is far more cost effective to print on standard sized paper, as it can reduce the amount of paper wastage. If you chose to print a brochure which is outside of the standard sizing guidelines, it is important to choose a press that can minimize the waste involved.
The importance of colour in your brochures and catalogues should not be underestimated, as colour can help you get the most from your brochure. Catalogues and brochures can now be printed using high definition for greater quality and a better range of colours. If your brochure is produced using poor quality, dull images it will not do justice for your brand or company and could actually have the opposite effect.
Its very important to look at which different printing suppliers can economically produce large pagination brochures and catalogues. If you have a catalogue or brochure which is 56 pages or more you be looking at B1 or Web presses. It would not be cost effective to go to a high street printing company as most of these will have smaller machines.
If you are looking to mass produce catalogues or brochures then it is well worth considering using a web offset printing machine. However this will depend on the amount of pages and the required finish. As a general rule we would suggest using a web offset printer when the quantity is over 20,000. For orders of volume between 1000 and 20,000, it would usually be more cost effective to produce on a traditional B1 sheetfed lithographic press.
If you are looking to produce a luxury catalogue or brochure and want to appeal to a more premium market, then you may need to consider adding some extra options. This will add to the overall cost of your brochure as many of these aspects will require specialist finishers. Adding foil can really add to the overall feel of your brochure and can definitely help it feel more expensive.
