We are MKM, a builders' merchant with a different approach to business, founded in Hull where our first branch was opened in 1995 and where our Central Support office is based. We have naturally expanded to bring our excellent service to more and more customers with over 80 branches nationwide covering more than 20 counties in England and multiple branches in Scotland.
Each of our branches utilise the local knowledge and expertise of their outstanding staff to provide great service to every customer and build those relationships which give them a true understanding of individual customer needs. Thanks to our customers, we've grown at an incredible rate to become the UK's largest independent builders' merchant, with plans for many more branches across the country.

Opening an account with MKM offers a flexible business arrangement for customers whether you're a multi-million-pound contractor or a white van man running smaller jobs, or somewhere in between. Once your account is open, we aim to be a 'one stop shop' for all your building, timber, plumbing, kitchens, bathroom and landscaping supplies.

Well after 15 years with MKM it’s clearly apparent that being a loyal customer simply results in them trying to exploit you. I was prepared to pay a little extra for good service and free delivery etc. I’d noticed the prices creeping up beyond the market norm but being charged £60 for a 3 metre piece of sewer pipe plunged to new depths . Finding… the same item in B&Q for £16 broke the camels back and I complained. The local branch manager fessed up and credited me half the cost still overcharging 100% of course. Other drainage items were also overcharged around

Service was diabolical. Order never turned up on the date that was booked and paid for. They called us last minute to say that the boards I paid for were actually promised to someone else and could not be delivered for another 5 days. We spoke with Marie Claire who’s attitude was ridiculous. She should absolutely not be in a customer service role.… I asked if I could get the first delivery on Tuesday due to us not getting our order on initial date and Marie Claire said that they do not prioritise anyone even though they made the initial mistake in not honouring my order on the Friday

Been in touch with MKM regularly about an item. Told multiple times that the item comes with a sheet. Phone to finally get the order placed. Item doesn't come with a sheet.. I phone to enquire and the response is, they shouldn't have to inform every comstomer that the item doesn't come with one as it's the case from the start of this year. Rediculous. I expect more from this company. I recommend this place to everyone I know.. better think twice next time..
