Solar Panels (Solar Photovoltaics) are a clean and efficient means of using the sun's energy to generate electricity. The electricity generated can be used at the point of generation with excess electricity either exported to the National Grid or stored for later use. For systems installed since then the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) provides an income on the electricity you export to the grid.
Battery storage is the latest innovation to make news with manufacturers and distributors alike investing considerable effort to bring battery storage solutions to the market and into your home. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) operated by Renewable Energy Assurance Ltd (REAL). The aim of the scheme is to guarantee a high quality experience for consumers wishing to buy or lease small-scale energy generation systems for their homes. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code logo is a sign that the company has agreed to abide by the high standards set out in the Consumer Code.
Yes, in fact, even for roofs facing east or west, predictions indicate that you can still generate up to 85% of what might be achieved from a south facing roof. It depends on the latitude of the installation, but broadly speaking, you are looking at between 30 and 40 degrees, which fortunately is the angle of a typical UK roof.
