At STDA we are working continually hard to provide the safest dance environment we possibly can. Two senior students take their dance training to the next level. Hannah Woodcock & Cassie Brockbank, both 18, have left STDA after several years to further their Dance training. The school offers classes in Ballet, Modern/Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Body Conditioning for children from three years of age.
Pupils are entered for the ISTD examinations from Pre-Primary to Advanced level in Ballet, Modern and Tap. In addition to exam work a dance show is performed every two years by the whole school, and pupils are given the opportunity to appear in local amateur shows and fetes. Pupils can attend these classes from 3 years of age in our baby class.

The school was established in 1971 and has seen many past pupils go on to further their career in dance. She is also a qualified British Federation Adjudicator. Miss Kate Wolstencroft trained at The Susan Taylor Dancing Academy from a young age before continuing her training at The Judith Hockaday College, Swindon.
In our baby classes we encourage musicality and expression in the children through the use of fun, infantile exercises that also teach them the basics of the ballet discipline. This works alongside their physical capabilities at this age helping them to build strength and co-ordination. From here they progress into the Pre-Primary ballet class where they study the ISTD syllabus in preparation for their first exam.
Pupils can attend these classes from 3 years of age where it is combined into our baby and Pre-primary classes. Once pupils have taken their first ballet exam they then study tap in a separate class. The ISTD have recently renewed their tap syllabus bringing it more up to date in both style and music.
Pupils can attend this from 5 years old and classes are split into different age & ability groups. Musical Theatre is the combination of singing, dancing and acting. The classes will involve all three disciplines with a goal of putting on musical theatre productions that will showcase the children's work.
