An ecologically built exhibition space in the north of Scotland, Moray Art Centre is designed to be a model of 100% energy sustainability. Moray Art Centre is based upon low environmental impact building, through ecological and sustainable material specification. From the start, the aim of the building was to minimise the on-going operational expenditure through investing in efficient heating, lighting, ventilation and water systems.
Moray Art Centre is situated in an incredibly rich, natural environment where visitors are both inspired and impressed by the diversity of the area. Based adjacent to the Findhorn Foundation Eco-village community, Moray Art Centre is situated close to the coastal village of Findhorn, in the historic county of Moray, which lies on the north-east coast of Scotland.
It will be an exciting course in which we will be working with themes often occurring in dreams and memories using the imagination to create sketches and one large painting. A combination of Abstract and Figurative. As well as using brushes, we will use unconventional tools to experiment with, such as bowl scappers, squeegies, brushes tapped to long sticks etc. in order to loosen up and free up!
The workshop will focus on how to depict objects and space in new, unusual and dynamic ways. We will be looking at how to relate to and represent our surroundings in a more abstract way, encouraging different methods of creative response through the act of drawing and redrawing our environment.
The first day will begin with a comprehensive slide lecture which will illustrate the concepts of the workshop and will provide visual inspiration for the day.The morning and mid-morning sessions will consist of a series of 20 - 40 minute guided drawing experiments with demonstrations. The afternoon will consist of one larger, more sustained drawing using ideas formulated in the morning.
