Taran Tek TKD was formed in 2007 by students of the popular and well established Billy Thomson's Truro Taekwon-Do club in Cornwall. We have a large compliment of Black Belts including 8 UKGT (United Kingdom Global Taekwon-Do) registered instructors 1st - 5th Dan. The lead instructors for the three clubs all have an up to date enhanced DBS check available to view on request.

Taran Tek Taekwon-Do was formed in the Autumn of 2007 by two students from the club formerly known as "Billy Thomson's Taekwon-Do" in Truro. Following Mr Thomson's "retirement" the club structure was re-built and expanded into two new clubs under the Taran Tek TKD Banner. The Truro club was run by Mr Hayers and the St Newlyn East club was run by Mr Spinks.
Hello and a warm welcome to the "Tigers" page of the Taran Tek Taekwon-Do website. The Tigers section of the club is specifically aimed at introducing 4-7 year olds to the martial art of Taekwon-Do. Taekwon-Do is a very powerful form of martial art, so why would you want your children to join a club that teaches this?
We operate a "One Fee" policy for all of our members. If you pay regular fees at one of our 3 clubs then you can train for free at any of the other clubs as many times a week as you require. Also if you are a visiting UKGT member on holiday then you can train for free on production of your UKGT licence.
You can also download the colour belt theory book from the Training Guides link in our members area. There are 10 coloured belts in Taekwon-Do leading up to black belt. The beginner starts with a white belt at the level of 10th kup, right up to a red belt with a black stripe, which is 1st kup. Some clubs in the UKGT differ as to how the stripes are displayed on the belts, but the kup structure is all the same.
You will soon be able to download the black belt theory book from the Training Guides link in our members area. There are 9 levels of black belt known as "degrees" The scale and responsibilities are outlined below. Can be trained and classified as a Class B Umpire (if over 18) at national level competitions.
