A Garden Centre has been on this site since 1989 when John Seppings opened a farm shop to help sell apples, plums and plants that the family grew on land around the village. Within 2 years the family were granted permission for a change of use to a Garden Centre and the Twenty Pence Garden Centre was born.
John's son Richard and his wife ran the garden centre until 1998 when his brother Clive and sister Pandora (the current owners) took over the running of the garden centre. Their father, John Seppings, decided to bring things up to date and a new garden centre was built in various phases over the years and constantly increasing the size of the shop and adding extra facilities.

This used to be quite a good restaurant, however the last three times we've been there, we were very unimpressed, don't know if they e changed chefs but it's definitely gone down hill.
"Update" on 7/11/21 my son decided to treat the family to the Sunday carvery, how very disappointing, my son's gammon was so tough he couldn't eat it, the roast potatoes weren't crispy, the Yorkshire puddings were burnt! The list could go on, all in all I wouldn't feed it to my dog!
This place has definitely gone down hill, doesn't warrant the £11 a head that they charge.

We needed a cup of tea and a diversion so happening upon a 'new' garden centre was a treat. Tea and sweet treats were spot on and we sat outside admiring the plants and pretty pots. Afterwards we had a potter through the randomness that is the modern garden centre ... Gifts and books and clothes and all sorts. A happy place to while away a sunny hour.
