Services
Over the past 35 years, Shotcrete Services has played a leading role in research and development of sprayed concrete processes, which has resulted in sprayed concrete being the proven method of concrete placement that it is today. In 1993, Shotcrete Services was selected by the European Commission to play a leading role in a research and development project, concentrating on Shotcrete design and technology.
Shotcrete Services can provide technical advice and guidance relating to sprayed concrete uses, design and application processes. Shotcrete Services will advise on which process will suit a particular application to provide both high quality and cost effective solutions. Often a combination of both processes is utilized.
Like all activities in the construction industry, sprayed concrete and associated works need to be planned and executed with due regard to Health, Safety and Environment. It is advisable only to employ the services of competent designers, suppliers and contractors (members of the Sprayed Concrete Association - http://www.sca.org.uk/) to carry out these works.
Different levels of control are exercised dependant upon the complexity and nature of the project. Testing varies upon each project, for most projects we carry out preconstruction material analysis and selection for our approved Suppliers, test panels and samples and onsite concrete production checks.
In 1978, British Engineer Roger Manning, developed the 'wet Process shotcrete spraying system'. His aim was to achieve high quality concrete placement that would compete with traditional shuttered concrete on price and strength, but give designers and contractors a greater versatility in concept and construction method.
