Our natural pet food was developed by founder and vet surgeon John Burns while working as a vet in 1993. Burns has come a long way from its fledgling days, but we are still a family company at heart and will never sell out. It is our dream that one day every pet will consume a natural, healthy diet based on homecooked food, allowing the pet's body to get on with what it does best.
Our charity mission is to help as many dogs and humans as we can. After all, if it wasn't for pets and people, our natural pet food wouldn't have a paw to stand on. We are committed to improving the lives of people and pets across the UK and to this effect have our very own in-house charity, The John Burns Foundation which is staffed by a team of 10.
We're here to help empower and educate pet owners on the nutritional needs of their cats, dogs and rabbits. Our friendly and knowledgeable team of nutritionists give bespoke free advice and support to pet owners, stockists and veterinary nurses and vets. Switched to Burns after our border had another bout of pancreatitis. Didn’t realise how fatty the food we used to feed her was. Since switching she has had no flare ups (touch wood). On her old food after eating she used to bloat up and struggle when going to the loo too, but since switching to Burns it’s helped with this as well. She has so much more energy too! Would definitely recommend.

My gsd Jess 9 yrs has been on Burns food for a number of years, everyone who sees her comments on how well she looks, a good weight and fantastic coat, even though Jess has a few serious Autoimmune conditions, Phemphigus and Pannus. She eats up every meal, a mixture of wet and dry. Highly recommend this dog food.
